LIVESTOCK MARKET UPDATE

The sheep and lamb market have been firm to slightly dearer this week, halting the slide for the time being.
Trade lambs are still the best performers in the market due to the short number of good trade lambs. Most trade lambs have sold from $110 - $125. This equates to most lambs selling for 460 - 480 c/kg with skin values ranging from $10 - $15. Export lambs were firm this week with most heavies selling from $117 - $ 135 and the extra heavies over 26kg to a top of $155.
The sheep market was firm to slightly dearer. Most trade weight merino ewes made from $65 to $90 depending on weight and skin value.
The cattle market was a bit better this week with vealers to restockers 8c better making 238 c/kg. Butcher vealers sold 222c/kg. Trade steers were 3c dearer selling from 173 - 218 c/kg. Feeder steers were the exception selling to 3c cheaper to make 180 - 200 c/kg. Feeder heifers were the big movers jumping 14c to sell 168- 185 c/kg.
Grown steers sold firm to make 172 - 188c/kg and cows lifted 3c ranging from 132 - 161 c/kg.
