Discovery Ag, a wholly owned subsidiary of Delta Agribusiness, has today announced the appointment of Alicia Garden as the organisation’s first Chief Executive Officer.
Discovery Ag is developing a range of products and service offerings that are squarely aimed at mitigating some of the key inherent risks in Australian farming. The company has created a solid platform for growth, including Australia’s largest private weather network, investment in farm based telemetry and collaborations with a range of strategic partners.
Ms Garden has an extensive and successful background in innovative product development and commercialisation, with a particular focus on agriculture. Holding degrees in both information technology and engineering, she was previously the Chief Executive Officer of Grain Growers Limited.
Announcing the appointment today, Mr Nick Burton Taylor, Chairman Delta Agribusiness said, “On behalf of the Delta Board, I am delighted that Ms Garden will join us and collectively lead the establishment of Discovery Ag. Alicia brings a wealth of experience to the business at this important stage of its development and, given her credentials, I am confident she will make a significant contribution to the role.”
Mr John Pattinson, Discovery Ag’s Managing Director added, “Discovery Ag is a new and exciting venture, with a rapidly evolving pipeline of opportunities and it will be wonderful to have Alicia as a key member of the team to make our concept a reality.”
Ms Garden will be responsible for the development and implementation of Discovery Ag’s 3-year strategic plan, including expansion of the DAWWN weather station and soil moisture network, the development of grower focussed decision support platforms and the national rollout of Precision Area Contracts with GrainCorp as the strategic partner.
